Happy Birthday Yuzu

For a few more hours it will be December 7th in your country and in mine. I wish you a happy birthday, and I truly hope that you find the happiness you deserve.

These are all the cranes I’ve made with images of your costumes in just over two years, since November 4, 2021. One per day. They were born as a wish for recovery from an injury, they have become a way to think about you a little, even just for the few minutes I need to fold a crane, to wish you that everything goes well, despite the difficulties, and to exchange a moment of warmth with other fanyu.

My photo made it into this beautiful video:

I guess you already know this, but it doesn’t hurt to remind yourself. You are important to so many people. You have transformed our lives. You give us strength, hope, joy, you show us that seemingly impossible goals are achievable if we really want it, you help us heal from wounds. When I write that you are the light, and sometimes I wrote it under your videos, I mean it. And you also push us to do new things that we otherwise wouldn’t have done. To learn too, and this enriches us. In recent years I have read a lot about Japan. These are the books I have in paper format, inevitably you can’t see the ebooks, or the books I borrowed from the library, and there are a lot of them.

This is today’s crane, born from the photo that portrays the lights of the bracelets worn by the people who attended GIFT live. They hugged you from the Tokyo Dome, I and many other people did it from afar, but we are always with you

Even though I didn’t understand anything of what you said, and I can only rely on the translations that other people who were present are publishing on X, I was happy to be able to celebrate your birthday with you. Happy birthday Yuzu. Take care of yourself. I can’t wait to see what other surprises you have in store for us.
