Either Frangipani falls in all competitions at the same time, or it’s an intentional move. Four judging panels had no doubts about the intentionality of the movement, with the fifth we have a rather serious problem. I did the math on what that TP’s mistake means, in terms of scoring.

O Frangipani cade in tutte le gare nello stesso momento, oppure si tratta di un movimento intenzionale. Quattro pannelli di giuria non hanno avuto dubbi sull’intenzionalità del movimento, con il quinto abbiamo un problema piuttosto serio. Ho fatto i conti su cosa significa, in termini di punteggio, l’errore fatto dal pannello tecnico.

What does that error mean in terms of points? Frangipani received a deduction that he shouldn’t have received, we’re talking about 1.00 points. The element’s GOE has been reduced by -5. The marks received by Frangipani, seven -3 and two -4, should have been seven +2 and two +1. This without assuming that perhaps, without the call of the fall, some judges could have decided to assign also bullets 1 (deep edges, clean steps and turns, control of the whole body) and 3 (effortless throughout with good energy, flow and execution), which are impossible to assign in the presence of a fall. Even without assigning more bullets, the final GOE would not have been -0.82 but +0.48, so the call made Frangipani lose 1.30 points of GOE alone. Perhaps the level of the sequence of steps has also been lowered, perhaps it deserved level 3 and not level 2, but since I’m not sure, I’ll leave it alone. In addition there is the cap in the components. They are 0.50 points for each of the three items, considering the factoring it is 2.50 points. The total is 4.80 points. At least.

In terms of standings, Frangipani should have been in fifth place and not seventh, and would have entered the free skate in the last group. I hope this mistake will not affect the final rank.

Questo senza supporre che magari, senza la chiamata della caduta, qualche giudice avrebbe potuto decidere di assegnare anche i bullet 1 (deep edges, clean steps and turns, control of the whole body) e 3 (effortless throughout with good energy, flow and execution), impossibili da assegnare in presenza di una caduta. Anche senza assegnare altri bullet, il GOE finale non sarebbe stato -0.82 ma +0.48, quindi la chiamata ha fatto perdere a Frangipani 1.30 punti di solo GOE. Magari è stato abbassato anche il livello della sequenza di passi, magari meritava livello 3 e non livello 2, ma visto che non ne sono sicura lascio stare. In più c’è il tetto nei components. Sono 0.50 punti per ciascuna delle tre voci, considerando la fattorizzazione si tratta di 2.50 punti. Il totale è 4.80 punti. Come minimo.

In termini di classifica Frangipani avrebbe dovuto trovarsi al quinto posto e non al settimo, e scendere in pista per il libero nell’ultimo gruppo. Spero che quest’errore non condizionerà la classifica finale.
