Judges at the World Team Trophy

I don’t have the time to write seriously about the judges of the World Team Trophy, so I did a little research in my blog. What I found is worrying.

Samuel Auxier, Referee for the Men competition

Here, speaking of the Olympic Games, I wrote that

in 2014 the American Samuel Auxier judged the Men’s competition (and the Men in the Team Event). He was the vice president of the American federation.

Probably he like a lot all the skaters, to the point to give, an the 2020 Skate America, a +3 to Vincent Zhou for a jump maked with a q.

Karen Butcher, Judge for the Men competition

Nothing relevant on her, she seems a fair judge. Can we use only her scores for the final score?

Philippe Meriguet, Judge for the Men competition

Meriguet was the referee of the Men competition at the 2021 World Championship, so we had the pleasure to see him recently. I wrote briefly on him here. For him, and only for him, Matteo Rizzo would not qualify for the free skate in PyeongChang. Only for him should be the French Chafik Bessaghier to go to the free skate.

Sakae Yamamoto, Judge for the Men competition

At the last World Team Trophy she loved a lot Vincent Zhou, for her Zhou was the best skater in the short program. Marks among 9.00 and 9.25 in the components? Even if she wasn’t the only one, she need a new pair of glasses. Now, not tomorrow.

Walter Toigo, Judge for the Men competition

I wrote about him here, here and, briefly, in a lot of other places. In the past he was suspended by the ISU.

Lorrie Parker, Judge for the Men competition

Contrary to what you might think, she isn’t the most biased judge, I get chills just thinking about it. I wrote about her here, here, here and in so many places that I can’t remember them all.

Jung-Sue Lee, Judge for the Men competition

I remember nothing about her, but her bias is too high for my tastes.

Olga Kozhemyakina, Judge for the Men competition

A really experienced judge, and one that know how to give a certain score without to be detected to a superficial look.

Zanna Kulik, Referee for the Ladies competition

She was one of the judges added for the free skate at the Ladies competition in Sochi.

Miroslav Misurec, Judge for the Ladies Competition

No bias for him, only a competition strange. Probably a good judge.

Elena Fomina, Judge for the Ladies competition

Another experienced judge, another judge that I don’t want to see. I wrote about her here, and, even without this analysis, I don’t have faith in a judge that kwnow that there are combine and don’t care.

Massimo Orlandini, Judge for the Ladies competition

Bias low for him, probably a good judge.

Leslie Keen, Judge for the Ladies competition

Really high bias for her.

Lorrie Parker, Judge for the ladies competition

Again? Retiring isn’t it?

Malgorzata Sobkow, Judge for the Ladies competition

One of the most biased judges, and it isn’t easy.

Sakae Yamamoto, Judge for the Ladies competition

As for the Men. I need time to watch her closely.

Judges for the Pairs competition:

Zanna Kulik (Referee), Walter Toigo, Philippe Meriguet, Lorrie Perker, Jung Sue lee, Olga Kozhemyakina, Leslie Keen and Sakae Yamamoto. Look above, all of them are on one or two of the other competitions.

Jennifer Mast, Referee for the Ice Dance competition

I know nothing about her (or about all the Technical Panels), so I go on.

Judges for the Ice Dance Competition:

Massimo Orlandini, Malgorzata Sobkow, Elena Fomina and Mirolslav Misurec are in other panels, see above.

Sharon Rogers, Judge fot the Ice Dance competition

One of the most biased judges.

Kaoru Takino, Judge for the Ice Dance competition

I know little about her, she need a better check.

Karen Butcher, Judge for the Ice Dance competition

Bias low, almost surely a good judge.

  1. A says:

Technical Controller for Men, Ladies and Pair is one of judges of the 2002 Salt Lake City Pair FS. She has always been on the position that tBerezhnaya/Sikharulidz should have won.
