New step in my check on the GOE scores received by Hanyu. Previous posts are dedicated to 4Lo (with explanations of my working method), 4S, 4T combinations, 4T and 3A combinations.

In training seminars for judges, the ISU indicates Hanyu’s 3A as a perfect jump, deserving of the maximum GOE. When Hanyu did the jump at his best, did he really get unanimous +3 under the old judging system, unanimous +5 under the new one?

Until the PyeongChang Olympic Games, nine of Hanyu’s 3A in international competitions were judged perfect (plus two at the National Championship). After that, only one of his jumps, that of the Skate Canada 2019 short program, was judged perfect, and even if we look at the National Championship the total would remain one.

Just to underline the quality of Hanyu’s triple axel, if the average marks of the top ten 3A performed by Hanyu with the +5/-5 score code is just over 90%, I looked at how many times Hanyu got a GOE higher than 90% of the maximum GOE possible with the score code +3/-3 and I listed the (international) competitions that didn’t enter the top ten list in the table with the red border. The total with the score code +3/-3 is 17, with the score code +5/-5 it is 6.

With their marks the judges told Hanyu that his 3A has gotten worse, and I would like them to explain to him, the press and all the fans why they didn’t awarded the unanimous +5 to the triple axel of the short program of the Rostelecom Cup 2018, of the 2019 World Championship, of the 2019 Autumn Classic International and of the 2020 Four Continents, and to the triple axel of the 2020 Four Continents free Skate, of the 2021 World Team Trophy and of the 2022 Olympic Games.

Nuova tappa nel mio controllo sui voti nei GOE ricevuti da Hanyu. I post precedenti sono dedicati al 4Lo (con spiegazioni sul mio metodo di lavoro), al 4S, alle combinazioni del 4T, al 4T e alle combinazioni del 3A.

Nei seminari di formazione per giudici, l’ISU indica il 3A di Hanyu come salto perfetto, meritorio del massimo GOE. Quando Hanyu ha eseguito il salto al meglio, ha davvero ricevuto il +3 unanime con il vecchio sistema di giudizio, il +5 unanime con il nuovo?

Fino ai Giochi olimpici di PyeongChang, ben nove dei 3A eseguiti da Hanyu in competizioni internazionali sono stati giudicati perfetti (più due al Campionato nazionale). Dopo, solo uno dei suoi salti, quello del programma corto di Skate Canada 2019, è stato giudicato perfetto, e anche se guardassi il Campionato nazionale il totale rimarrebbe uno.

Giusto per rimarcare la qualità del triplo axel di Hanyu, se il voto medio dei dieci migliori 3A eseguiti da Hanyu con il codice di punteggi +5/-5 è di poco superiore al 90%, io ho guardato quante volte Hanyu ha ottenuto un GOE superiore rispetto al 90% del GOE massimo possibile con il codice di punteggi +3/-3 e ho elencato le gare (internazionali) che non sono entrate nella lista delle dieci migliori esecuzioni nella tabella con il bordo rosso. Il totale con il codice di punteggio +3/-3 è 17, con il codice di punteggi +5/-5 è 6.

Con i loro voti i giudici hanno detto a Hanyu che il suo 3A è peggiorato, e vorrei che spiegassero a lui, alla stampa e a tutti gli appassionati perché non hanno assegnato il +5 unanime al triplo axel del programma corto della Rostelecom Cup 2018, a quello del Campionato del mondo 2019, a quello dell’Autumn Classic International 2019, a quello del Four Continents 2020 e a quelli del programma libero del Four Continents 2020, del World Team Trophy 2021 e dei Giochi olimpici 2022.
