I continue my check on the GOE of the best elements performed by the skaters with the score code +3/-3 and with the score code +5/-5. I explained the type of checking I’m doing in the post dedicated to Nam Nguyen. Later I did the same check, adding a couple of comparative graphs, on Alexei Bychenko‘s GOE and then I watched Brendan Kerry’s and Boyang Jin‘s scores. Now I watch Keiji Tanaka’s scores.

Tanaka is the same age as Yuzuru Hanyu, they started facing each other in novice competitions, they grew up together, but starting from the junior category they followed very different paths. Tanaka came later to the important competitions and participated in them for less time. In 2018 he finished 13th at the World Championship, in 2019 he fell to 14th place, the difference is minimal. In 2018 he finished 4th in the Four Continents Championship (it was the Olympic season, and the Four Continents Championship in the Olympic season always has a less important field of participants), in 2019 he finished 7th, but the field of participants was more important, the difference is not big. And in Grand Prix competitions he won a bronze in 2016 and one in 2019. I would say that Tanaka has remained at the same level.

However, his GOE increased on almost all elements, and on the 4S and 3A in combination they increased by a lot.

This is the detail of the changes:

On 4 elements the variations in scores are so small as not to be significant. Now that the graph of variations for skater starts to get bigger, we can see that not everyone has seen their scores change in the same way. Of course, the changes can be linked to the fact that the level of the skaters has improved, or that it has gotten worse. Tanaka, who basically continued to skate as before and to get the same results, is one of those with the better balance: only Nam Nguyen has seen his marks rise on a higher number of elements, and only Brendan Kerry has seen his scores get lower on a lower number of elements. Right now the one with the worst change is Boyang Jin.

If we look at the overall percentage of the GOE, regardless of the number of elements, Tanaka is the one who has seen his scores rise the most, Jin the one who has seen his scores drop the most.

Proseguo il mio controllo sul GOE dei migliori elementi eseguiti dai pattinatori con il codice di punteggi +3/-3 e con il codice di punteggi +5/-5. Ho spiegato il tipo di controllo che sto facendo nel post dedicato a Nam Nguyen. In seguito ho fatto lo stesso controllo, aggiungendo un paio di grafici comparativi, sui GOE di Alexei Bychenko, quindi sono passata a quelli di Brendan Kerry e di Boyang Jin. Ora guardo i voti di Keiji Tanaka.

Tanaka è coetaneo di Yuzuru Hanyu, hanno iniziato ad affrontarsi nelle gare novice, sono cresciuti insieme, ma a partire dalla categoria junior hanno seguito percorsi molto diversi. Tanaka è arrivato più tardi alle gare importanti e vi ha partecipato per meno tempo. Nel 2018 si è classificato 13° al Campionato del mondo, nel 2019 è sceso al 14° posto, la differenza è minima. Nel 2018 si è classificato 4° al Four Continents Championship (era stagione olimpica, e il Four Continents Championship nella stagione olimpica ha sempre un campo di partecipanti ridotto), nel 2019 si è classificato 7°, ma il campo di partecipanti era più importante, la differenza non è grande. E in gare di Grand Prix ha vinto un bronzo nel 2016 e uno nel 2019. Direi che Tanaka è rimasto allo stesso livello.

I suoi voti però sono cresciuti su quasi tutti gli elementi, e sul 4S e sul 3A in combinazione sono cresciuti di tanto.

Questo è il dettaglio delle variazioni:

Su 4 elementi le variazioni nei voti sono così piccole da non essere significative. Ora che il grafico con le variazioni dei pattinatori inizia a ingrandirsi, possiamo notare che non tutti hanno visto i loro voti modificarsi allo stesso modo. Certo, le modifiche possono essere legate al fatto che il livello dei pattinatori è migliorato, oppure che è peggiorato. Tanaka, che fondamentalmente ha continuato a pattinare come prima e a ottenere gli stessi risultati, è uno di quelli con il bilancio migliore: solo Nam Nguyen ha visto i suoi voti alzarsi su un numero più alto di elementi, e solo Brendan Kerry ha visto i suoi voti abbassarsi su un numero più basso di elementi. In questo momento quello che ha il bilancio peggiore è Boyang Jin.

Se guardiamo la percentuale complessiva del GOE, indipendentemente dal numero di elementi, Tanaka è quello che ha visto i suoi voti alzarsi di più, Jin quello che ha visto i suoi voti abbassarsi di più.
