I continue my check on the GOE of the four best elements performed by the skaters with the score code +3/-3 and with the score code +5/-5. I explained the type of checking I’m doing in the post dedicated to Nam Nguyen. Later I did the same check, adding a couple of comparative graphs, on Alexei Bychenko‘s GOE and then I watched Brendan Kerry’s, Boyang Jin‘s, Keiji Tanaka’s, Morisi Kvitelashvili‘s, Alexander Samarin‘s, Matteo Rizzo‘s, Michal Brezina‘s and Vincent Zhou’s scores. Now I watch Deniss Vasiljevs’s scores.

Vasiljevs was born on August 9, 1999, he is younger than Hanyu. Only Zhou of the skaters I looked at is younger than Vasiljevs, but since Vasiljievs is clearly the strongest Latvian skater ever, he started competing in big competitions much earlier than Zhou. With the old code of points he participated in the 2018 Olympic Games and three World Championships, with a 6th place as his best result (in the post-Olympic World Championship, a competition with many absentees), and given that with the new code of points the maximum he finished 13th, it would seem that he got worse. Three European championships with the old score code, best result a 4th place, while in the most recent years he won a bronze. In terms of placement, the difference is minimal, in terms of prestige it is much greater. On the Grand Prix circuit in the past he had obtained at most two 6th places, last year he won a silver. so in some competitions he improved, in some he got worse. Can we say that he has more or less remained stable?

Vasiljevs won the European bronze thanks to two clean programs and a good 4S, a jump that didn’t entered in my check because he only started doing it recently. On the other elements in some cases he had higher marks, in some cases he had lower marks:

Out of the best 3Lo Vasiljevs had exactly the same average marks with the two score codes. However, his scores have gone up more often than the number of times they have gone down. The comparison with other skaters:

Vasiljevs’ values are very close to those of the average. For now, Rizzo and Zhou stand out positively and Jin negatively. This is the comparison on the average percentages:

Vasiljevs’ scores have risen, but not by much. Those of Kvitelashvili, who is older than him and who like him won a European bronze, have grown more. Kvitelashvili is older than Vasiljevs, but according to the judges he was able to improve more than him. Improve, don’t get higher scores: Kvitelashvili’s average comparables GOE rose from 43.89% to 54.15%, an increase of 10.26%, that of Vasiljevs rose from 61.41% to 65 .53%, with a growth of 4.12%. Therefore Vasiljevs receives (rightly) higher marks, but the greatest improvements were made by the skater who was 23 years old in spring 2018, not the one who was 18. Tanaka, a peer of Kvitelashvili, also improved more than Vasiljevs, therefore improvement is not always related to age. For completeness I add that Rizzo is one year older than Vasiljevs, Zhou one year younger than him.

Proseguo il mio controllo sul GOE dei migliori quattro elementi eseguiti dai pattinatori con il codice di punteggi +3/-3 e con il codice di punteggi +5/-5. Ho spiegato il tipo di controllo che sto facendo nel post dedicato a Nam Nguyen. In seguito ho fatto lo stesso controllo, aggiungendo un paio di grafici comparativi, sui GOE di Alexei Bychenko, quindi sono passata a quelli di Brendan Kerry, di Boyang Jin, di Keiji Tanaka, di Morisi Kvitelashvili, di Alexander Samarin, di Matteo Rizzo, di Michal Brezina e di Vincent Zhou. Ora guardo i voti di Deniss Vasiljevs.

Vasiljevs è nato il 9 agosto 1999, è più giovane di Hanyu. Il solo Zhou, fra i pattinatori che ho guardato, è più giovane di Vasiljevs, ma poiché Vasiljievs è nettamente il più forte pattinatore lettone di sempre, ha iniziato a partecipare a gare importanti molto prima di lui. Con il vecchio codice di punteggi ha partecipato ai Giochi olimpici del 2018 e a tre Campionati del mondo, con un 6° posto come miglior risultato (nel Mondiale postolimpico, una gara con tanti assenti), e visto che con il nuovo codice di punteggi al massimo è arrivato 13°, sembrerebbe che sia peggiorato. Tre campionati europei con il vecchio codice di punteggi, miglior risultato un 4° posto, mentre negli anni più recenti ha vinto un bronzo. A livello di piazzamento la differenza è minima, a livello di prestigio è decisamente più grande. Nel circuito Grand Prix in passato al massimo aveva ottenuto due 6° posti, lo scorso anno ha vinto un argento. perciò in qualche gara è migliorato, in qualcuna è peggiorato. Possiamo dire che è più o meno rimasto stabile?

Vasiljevs ha vinto il bronzo europeo grazie a due programmi puliti e a un buon 4S, salto che non è entrato nei miei confronti perché ha iniziato a eseguirlo solo in tempi recenti. Sugli altri elementi in qualche caso ha avuto voti più alti, in qualche caso ha avuto voti più bassi:

Sui migliori 3Lo Vasiljevs ha avuto esattamente gli stessi voti con i due codici di punteggi. Comunque i suoi voti sono saliti più spesso rispetto al numero di volte in cui sono scesi. il confronto con gli altri pattinatori:

I valori di Vasiljevs sono molto vicini a quelli della media. Per il momento spiccano in positivo Rizzo e Zhou e in negativo Jin. Questo invece è il confronto sulle percentuali medie:

I voti di Vasiljevs sono cresciuti, ma non di tanto. Quelli di Kvitelashvili, che è più grande di lui e che come lui ha vinto un bronzo europeo, sono cresciuti di più. Kvitelashvili è più grande di Vasiljevs, però secondo i giudici è stato capace di migliorare più di lui. Migliorare, non prendere voti più alti: il GOE medio sugli elementi confrontabili per Kvitelashvili è passato dal 43,89% al 54,15%, con una crescita del 10,26%, quello di Vasiljevs è passato dal 61,41% al 65,53%, con una crescita del 4,12%. Perciò Vasiljevs riceve (giustamente) voti più alti, ma i miglioramenti maggiori li ha fatti il pattinatore che nella primavera del 2018 aveva 23 anni, non quello che ne aveva 18. Anche Tanaka, un coetaneo di Kvitelashvili, è migliorato più di Vasiljevs, perciò non sempre il miglioramento è legato all’età. Per completezza aggiungo che Rizzo è un anno più grande di Vasiljevs, Zhou un anno più giovane di lui.
