In my check on the elements executed by Nathan Chen I’m now at the 3Lz. I remember that In the first post of the series, dedicated to Hanyu’s 4Lo, I explained how I worked.The following ones were dedicated to the 4S, the 4T in combination, the 4T, the 3A in combination, the 3A, the 3Lz, the 3F, and the 3Lo. When I watched the CCoSp I added some explanations on spins. Later I also looked at the CSSp, and since that spin is part of the short program on Chopin’s Ballade No. 1, in the same post I looked at the marks of that program the times Hanyu completed it without making any mistakes. I wrote also about the FCCoSp, the FCSSp, the FCSp, the StSq and the ChSq1. After checked Hanyu’s elements, I switched do Chen’s elements. First the 4Lz (as a solo jump or as the first jump of a combination), then the 4F in combination, the solo 4F, the 4S, the 4T combinations, the solo 4T, the 3A and the 3Lz in combination.
In the last four seasons Chen has performed a solo 3Lz only six times, seven if we count one at a National Championship. However we look at the data, his worst execution of the last few seasons received a higher score than his best execution up to the 2017-18 season, and seeing that already in the autumn of 2016 he had managed to execute several 4Lz capable of receiving a very positive GOE, I don’t think the 3Lz was such a difficult jump for him. But strangely at that time he couldn’t execute 3Lz of quality, and apparently with the transition to the new scoring code he has significantly improved.

Nel mio controllo sugli elementi eseguiti da Nathan Chen sono arrivata al 3Lz. Ricordo che ho spiegato il modo in cui ho lavorato nel primo post della serie, quello dedicato al 4Lo di Yhzuru Hanyu. In seguito ho guardato i voti del 4S, del 4T in combinazione, del 4T, del 3A in combinazione, del 3A, del 3Lz, del 3F e del 3Lo. Quando mi sono occupata della CCoSp ho aggiunto qualche spiegazione sulle trottole. In seguito ho guardato anche la CSSp, e visto che quella trottola fa parte del programma corto sulla Ballata N. 1 di Chopin, ho guardato i voti di quel programma le volte in cui Hanyu lo ha completato senza commettere errori. In seguito ho guardato la FCCoSp, la FCSSp, la FCSp, la StSq e la ChSq1. Dopo aver finito con Hanyu sono passata agli elementi eseguiti da Nathan Chen, a partire dal 4Lz (da solo o in combinazione) e proseguendo con il 4F in combinazione, il 4F da solo, il 4S, il 4T in combinazione, il 4T da solo, il 3A e il 3Lz in combinazione.
Nelle ultime quattro stagioni Chen ha eseguito un 3Lz da solo soltanto sei volte, sette se ne contiamo uno a un Campionato nazionale. Comunque guardiamo i dati, la sua peggiore esecuzione delle ultime stagioni ha ricevuto una valutazione più alta della sua migliore esecuzione fino alla stagione 2017-18, e visto che già nell’autunno del 2016 era riuscito a eseguire diversi 4Lz capaci di ricevere un GOE molto positivo, non penso che il 3Lz per lui fosse un salto tanto difficile. Però stranamente non riusciva a eseguire 3Lz di qualità, invece a quanto pare con il passaggio al novo codice di punteggi è notevolmente migliorato.
